Matters within the purview of the commission shall include (1) the policies of athletic governance associations and IHEs with respect to ensuring student athletes succeed in both academics and athletics, (2) how IHEs finance intercollegiate athletic programs, and (3) whether athletic governance associations require or encourage IHEs to be transparent in academic and financial matters with respect to intercollegiate athletic programs. The commission may hold hearings, take testimony, and receive evidence as it considers appropriate to carry out its duties, and it may issue subpoenas relating to any matter under investigation.
