The "Love Lives On Act of 2025" seeks to enhance benefits and services for surviving spouses of veterans and service members by modifying existing laws. A primary provision ensures that a surviving spouse's remarriage will no longer disqualify them from receiving Veterans Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC) , removing a significant barrier to continued support. Furthermore, the bill prohibits the termination of Survivor Benefit Plan (SBP) annuities solely due to a surviving spouse's remarriage, including provisions for resuming payments for those who remarried before age 55 and prior to the act's enactment. It also expands the definition of a dependent under the TRICARE program to include a remarried widow or widower whose subsequent marriage has ended due to death, divorce, or annulment, thereby restoring their healthcare eligibility.
Referred to the Committee on Armed Services, and in addition to the Committee on Veterans' Affairs, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned.
Referred to the Subcommittee on Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs.
