This legislation amends title 38, United States Code, to mandate the establishment of dedicated lactation spaces within every medical center operated by the Department of Veterans Affairs. The Secretary of Veterans Affairs is responsible for ensuring these facilities are implemented. A defined lactation space must be a hygienic area, distinct from a bathroom, that is shielded from view, free from intrusion, and accessible to individuals with disabilities, including those using wheelchairs. Each space must also include a chair and a working surface, be easy to locate, and clearly identified with signage. These facilities are intended for use by women veterans and members of the public to express breast milk, with implementation required within two years of the Act's enactment.
