This bill mandates a significant change in the appointment process for the Chief of the Forest Service. Under its provisions, the President will now be responsible for appointing the Chief, subject to the advice and consent of the Senate , departing from the current method. To ensure qualified leadership, the bill stipulates that any individual appointed to this role must possess substantial experience and demonstrated competence in forest and natural resources management.
