The HUD Transparency Act of 2025 establishes a requirement for the Inspector General of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to provide annual testimony to Congress. Specifically, the Inspector General must appear before the House Committee on Financial Services and the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs by October 1st each year. During these annual testimonies, the Inspector General is mandated to discuss a range of critical topics. These include the Office of Inspector General's efforts to detect and prevent fraud, waste, and abuse within HUD, its capacity to conduct audits and investigations, and actions taken to foster program progress.
