This legislation aims to significantly increase awareness of the Department of Veterans Affairs' direct and guaranteed home loan programs among potential homebuyers. It mandates that within six months of enactment, the Director will require each enterprise to include a specific disclaimer on the Uniform Residential Loan Application (URLA) . This disclaimer, to be placed directly below the military service question, will clearly state: "If yes, you may qualify for a VA Home Loan. Consult your lender regarding eligibility." To ensure compliance, the bill also directs the Comptroller General to conduct a study and report to Congress within 18 months, assessing whether at least 80 percent of lenders are properly implementing this new requirement on the URLA.
