This bill directs the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to implement on-site regulated medical waste treatment systems at certain Department facilities. The Secretary must first identify facilities that would realize cost savings over a five-year period by utilizing these systems. To facilitate this, the bill mandates the development of a uniform regulated medical waste cost analysis model . This model will compare the costs of off-site treatment by non-Department entities with the costs of on-site treatment, amortizing capital costs over ten years. Once facilities are identified, the Secretary is required to secure, install, and operate these on-site treatment systems, with no additional funds authorized for this purpose.
