The assignment of a resident inspector will continue for a specific duration: until all spent nuclear fuel has been successfully transferred from the plant's spent fuel pools into dry storage. This ensures continuous oversight during a crucial period of potential risk. Should there be no active decommissioning or fuel transfer activities, the NRC retains the flexibility to reassign the inspector to other appropriate duties.
