This bill directs the Secretary of Education to establish a competitive grant program aimed at fostering the creation of new agricultural education programs in secondary schools. Grants, which are capped at $100,000 per eligible entity and can last up to five years, are designed to support curriculum development, equipment purchases, and other essential program costs. An appropriation of $5,000,000 is authorized through fiscal year 2028 to fund these efforts. Eligible entities applying for these grants must assure that the programs are not yet in operation and detail how they will benefit students, including special populations. Applications must also describe how the programs will be coordinated with existing activities under the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006 and reflect the demonstrated needs of regional, State, or local employers. Grant recipients are required to conduct an independent evaluation of their activities and submit annual reports detailing grant usage, program performance, and effectiveness.
