This bill establishes the Tribal Affordable Housing Grant Program , directing the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development to award competitive grants within one year of enactment. These grants are specifically for eligible Indian Tribes and Tribally designated housing entities to undertake activities on Tribal land, including building new residential dwelling units or adding necessary features to existing ones. The program will be administered in accordance with the requirements of the Native American Housing Assistance and Self-Determination Act of 1996. Eligibility for these grants is limited to Tribes or Tribally designated housing entities that received less than $500,000 from HUD under the aforementioned Act in at least one of the five preceding fiscal years. To fund this initiative, the bill authorizes an appropriation of $150,000,000 for fiscal year 2026 and for each subsequent fiscal year. This funding aims to enhance affordable housing options and improve residential infrastructure within qualifying Tribal communities.
