This bill directs the Secretary of Transportation to issue new regulations within one year of its enactment. These regulations will require air carriers to provide financial compensation to passengers experiencing significant delays or cancellations on domestic or international flights that are within the carrier's control. Specifically, for delays between 3 and 9 hours, passengers would receive up to $300 , along with a booking on the next available flight at no additional cost if a connecting flight is missed. For delays of 9 hours or more, the compensation increases to up to $775 , also including free rebooking for missed connections. These compensation requirements are distinct from existing refund obligations.
