This legislation aims to revise the standard of identity for pasteurized orange juice by modifying its minimum required soluble solids content. The bill specifies a new requirement for the composition of this product. Effective upon enactment, the standard for pasteurized orange juice will mandate that it contains at least 10.0 percent by weight of orange juice soluble solids , exclusive of any added optional sweetening ingredients. The act also clarifies that it does not restrict the Secretary of Health and Human Services' authority to promulgate regulations for amending the standard of identity for pasteurized orange juice.
