Canada serves as the largest single export market for the United States, and both nations are committed to bolstering these supply chains to enhance competitiveness and resilience against economic aggression.

In terms of energy and critical minerals, Canada is the United States' largest foreign energy supplier, providing essential resources like oil, natural gas, uranium, and electricity, and is a leading global producer of critical minerals. The resolution supports increased focus on energy security through greater cross-border infrastructure and diversified critical minerals supply chains. Both countries are also global leaders in science, technology, and innovation, collaborating on emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and quantum computing.

For national and global security, the resolution emphasizes the strategic importance of their shared border, which facilitates legitimate trade and travel while cooperating to deter illegal migration, terrorism, and criminal activities, including the fight against fentanyl.
