This Senate Resolution formally recognizes the significant success of the Memphis Safe Task Force , established to address the city's high violent crime rates. Memphis, a historic and economically vital city, had experienced an unacceptable level of violent crime, ranking nationally as one of the most dangerous cities. The task force, created by Presidential memorandum, is a joint Federal initiative working with State and local agencies to combat and reduce violent crime, aggressively prosecute offenders, and restore safety. Its objective is to make Memphis a safe place to live and raise a family, building on earlier efforts like "Operation Viper." In just over 50 days, the Memphis Safe Task Force has achieved substantial results, including nearly 3,000 arrests , the seizure of over 450 illegal firearms , and the recovery of over 100 missing children . These coordinated efforts have led to a dramatic decrease in violent crime, with historically low levels of homicide, aggravated assault, and carjacking. The resolution commends President Donald J. Trump's leadership in establishing this task force, which is intended to serve as a national model for reducing violent crime in other major U.S. cities, and will remain in operation for the foreseeable future.
